Summertime in Beechmont

We’ve had a busy summer here in Beechmont.

In May, we threw our annual Festival of Flowers. We spent months preparing, and it turned out to be the perfect day. I was in charge of the Paint a Pot booth, and personally I think it has to be the most fun booth at the Festival. My volunteers and I helped a lot of very cute kids paint pots for their moms and grandmas for Mother’s Day.

Throughout the summer, a small committee has continued to meet to stay on top of the planning for next year’s Festival of Flowers. We’ve got some great ideas planned for 2018, and we can’t wait to see them come to life!

Another fun event we put on this summer was the Beechmont Community Picnic.

We had music, a bounce house, popcorn, snow cones, corn hole boards, face painting, and tons of food. Turnout was great, and we enjoyed getting to spend time with all of our neighbors before the school year began.

Finally, you may have seen the BNA board out at the Beechmont Open Air Market every Saturday morning, starting in June of this year. Our next big event is in connection with the Market – the Harvest Festival. The Harvest Festival is scheduled for September 23, and it will feature fall produce, flowers, decorations, arts, crafts, food, prizes, yoga, music and more. You’ll also be able to vote on your favorite Market produce vendor and artisan this year.

As always, you can find us on the third Monday of each month at 7 PM at the Iroquois branch of the Louisville Pubic Library for our Beechmont Neighborhood Association meetings. Our next meeting is September 18 – everyone is welcome!
