As a citywide non-profit historic preservation organization, Preservation Louisville works in partnership with local, state and national organizations to promote the

preservation of our community’s historic resources through education and advocacy.

Preservation Louisville also provides hands-on training, technical information and resources.

This session of Hands on History will explore the methods, techniques and traditional paint colors found on historic buildings. Experts will also be discussing the proper handling and removal of lead paint that is commonly found on historic properties.

  • Wood restoration
  • Preparing for paint
  • Paint – there’s not much to say here … the hard work is the planning and surface preparation

Our Experts for this Workshop are:

Debra Richards, Historic Preservation Specialist with years of experience working as Metro Landmarks Staff, also a professional colorist who has donated her time to provide the schemes for our Save Our Shotgun homes

John Cullen, Professional Engineer, Co-Founder and CEO of LockUpLead will be taking about the danger of lead paint and how LockUpLead can help keep you and your loved ones safe!

Paul Gossen,
Chemical Engineer and currently President of Clear Site Inc. Paul has experience working with companies like DuPont and Restoration Products and will introduce you to some products and techniques to help with your paint removal prepping surfaces!
