In 2014,
• 40 families were served in the Family Education Program.
• 31 parents participated in Family Coaching.
• 39.8% of adults increased their English language level.
• 87% of parents in coaching made steps toward reaching their goals.
• 100 % of the Early Childhood Participants (Pre-K) scored at the highest level in the county of English language Proficiency.
• 100% of our High School Seniors graduated and enrolled in college.
• 306 youth participated in the Youth Program.
• 75.5% of enrollment attended regularly (defined as a minimum of 3 days per week).
• 82% of program participants in grades 6-12 ended the year with a 2.5 or greater GPA.
• The average rate of school attendance for ACC program participants was 96.3%.
• 70 adults completed classes and became US citizens.
• 4 Youth Program participants going into high school received full scholarships to Saint Francis High School, and the West End School. Another participant was accepted into the prestigious YPASS Music Program at DuPont Manual High School.
• 186 clients were served through our VITA programming this year.
• Over 460 individuals gained access to health care through KYNECT partnership.
• Family Coaches led their clients to complete 96 steps and 32 goals.
• Youth Programming curriculum was expanded to incorporate a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math focus, and the summer program included weekly workshops and labs with a retired NASA Technician.

Christmastide at Locust Grove
Location: Locust Grove
When: Today, December 5th 5:30 – 9:00pm; Tomorrow, December 6th 4:00 – 9:00pm
Details: Enter the year 1816 for a Croghan family celebration at Locust Grove. The Clark & Croghan families invite you into their home to visit and to partake of holiday cheer. The home is decorated in a manner appropriate for the “country seat” of Major William Croghan and his distinguished relatives and guests. In the great parlor, live music and dancing await the guests, intermingled with concerts by a talented neighbor. You’ll be engaged in lively conversations with family and guests. Out in the hearth kitchen, recently harvested foods are prepared over an open fire and refreshments are offered to guests. Meanwhile, back in 2014: in the Visitors’ Center, there will be dancing, music, refreshments, and crafts for children 3 & older from 6:00-8:00 p.m. each day. Also in the Auditorium, a sale of gift-quality new, gently used, and antiquarian books.
Cost: $6 adults, $3 children, or $18 maximum per household.

Old Fashioned Family Holiday Festival
Location: Riverside the Farnsley-Moremen Landing
When: Tomorrow, December 6th
Time: 2:00-8:00pm
Details: This community holiday celebration will include photo opportunities with Santa, holiday craft activities for children, and musical performances by area church and school choirs. Other featured activities include horse-drawn carriage rides and a silent auction of holiday wreaths. Families can stroll through dozens of colorful illuminated holiday scenes surrounding the Visitors Center, and Riverside’s Museum Store will be open, offering unique local holiday gift items. The historic Farnsley-Moremen House will be richly decorated for the season. Enjoy the fire in the kitchen hearth with simmering spices of the season. Volunteers in period costume will lead free tours of the home through 5 p.m. There is no admission fee for the event and activities are free. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be available for purchase. The “Old-Fashioned Family Holiday Festival” is sponsored by the Dixie Area Business Association.

Kids Holiday Party

The Locust Grove Chamber Musicians present English, Scottish, and Early American Yuletide music. Locust Grove’s Emilie Strong Smith Chamber Music Series offers concertgoers a unique opportunity. Patrons delight in music that the Clarks and Croghans would have heard in the room where they most likely would have enjoyed it — the second-floor Great Parlor of the historic house. Refreshments at 5:00 p.m.; concert in Locust Grove’s Great Parlor begins at 5:30 p.m. Season subscriptions may be purchased by calling Locust Grove at (502) 897-9845. Categories are Patron, $200; Supporter, $100; and Subscriber, $70. Individual concerts are $20 each.

Macbeth: A Candlelight Reading

Details: Join Kentucky Shakespeare for an intimate, chilling evening in the Great Parlor at Locust Grove. Ten actors will present a candlelight reading of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth. “By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.” Tickets are $20; or $15 for Locust Grove members and can be purchased in person or by phone at Locust Grove.
