Carve Out Some Time for the Louisville Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular! (Pictured above)
If you haven’t heard yet, the Louisville Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular is back and better than ever!. Over 5,000 pumpkins displayed in themed scenes and paired with music light the night as you venture down a ¼-mile walking trail. It is entertainment for the entire family! Come out to Iroquois Park now– November 2 for this truly spectacular event. It’s open from dusk to 11 p.m. during the week (SundayThursday) and midnight on Friday and Saturday. Prices range from $9-$15 depending on the day you go and your age. Proceeds benefit the Louisville Metro Parks Foundation. This is an event you won’t want to miss! It’s “Golftober”!
For only $20, a family of up to four members can play 9 holes at any Metro Parks course. The $20 includes greens and carts fees, and families can take advantage of the deal after 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during October. Learn more.

Louisville Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular
Location: Iroquois Park
Date: Now – November 2nd 2014
Time: Sun-Thur: Dusk/ 7PM-11PM; Fri & Sat: Dusk/7PM – Midnight
Details: Over 5,000 professionally carved jack-o-lanterns, including well over 100 masterpieces lighting nearly a one-third-mile Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular trail.  Grouped in themed scenes and set to music.  The display completely changes every seven days.

Studio 2000
Location: Shawnee Arts & Cultural Center

Details: Studio 2000 is a competitive visual art program for 14 to 18 year olds with talent in visual art.  Students work with professional artists in a variety of mediums with the goal of improving their skills in visual art.  The program’s fall session will begin Saturday, October 18th 9:30 am – 1:30 pm.  Ages: 14 to 18.  No cost.

Mayor’s Fall Hike and Outdoor Adventure
Location: Jefferson Memorial Forest
Date: Saturday, October 18th
Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Details: Join Mayor Greg Fischer for a family-friendly fall exploration of Jefferson Memorial Forest on Saturday, October 18, 10 am to 2 pm. The event is held near the Forest’s Environmental Education Center and offers a wide variety of activities showcasing all the Forest has to offer. Forest staff and volunteers introduce visitors to our native plant gardens, animal exhibits, and education pond. Activities for children are provided in the Nature Explore area. Climb the 52-ft Alpine Tower, try your hand at archery, join an expert on a guided hike, or take advantage of canoeing and fishing demonstrations on Mitchell Hill Lake. Come early for the Four de Lis Classic 5K race at 8 AM. Free pumpkin decorating and hay rides. 18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove

Details: Notice is herewith given that a Market Fair shall be held at the grounds designated as the seat of Major William Croghan, known as Locust Grove, six miles up-river from the Falls of the Ohio. You are invited to join with Locust Grove and the Illinois Regiment of Virginia as we bring the spirit of the past alive with the Market Fair.

You can participate in 18th c. style entertainment, purchase replicas of 18th century military and household items, and enjoy food and drink as our founders did, meet and converse with early Americans. Mock battles for our country’s independence feature General George Rogers Clark’s own militia, the Illinois regiment, as well as British Dragoons and Marines, and German Hessians. Native Americans will be present as well – whose side will they be on this year? Concessions available.   Admission for adults is $8 and children $4. This is a wonderful, fun & educational event for the entire family.
