Metro Parks – Tree Program on Parkway

southern-parkwayIf you’ve been walking along the Parkway recently, you may have noticed the pink paint and flags. Metro Parks is getting ready to plant 129 trees. This is in addition to the 10,000 trees already planted across Jefferson County in the past couple years and we are on track to plant 5,000 this year alone.
If you like what you see call Dan Johnson and Metro311 and let them know. If you have planted a tree recently, the city would like to know that as well. You can register your tree by going to http://www.louisvilleky.gov/brightside/ and click on the tree on the left hand side.

TEAM Street SAFE – Bridge walk Sunday

A walk has been scheduled to show support of the Big 4 bridge on Sunday, March 30th, at 1pm.  I would like our “Team Street Safe” walkers to take part in this, as this is our goal, to rid the city of crime and take a stance against it by uniting together corporately.  Please wear your Yellow, Team Street Safe shirt and meet at the bridge at 12:30-12:45

If you do not have a “Team Street Safe” shirt, let me know and I’ll have one for you.

Please respond to this email, as I would like a head count on how many to expect.

Call To Action: Vote NO on H.R. 1459
H.R. 1459: “Ensuring Public Involvement in the Creation of National Monuments Act.”
Preservationists need to make their voices heard today and tomorrow!

This bill poses a threat to our public lands and America’s heritage. It would do away with fundamental provisions in the Antiquities Act, and it would undermine Presidential authority to act swiftly to protect iconic historical, cultural, and natural sites. The Antiquities Act has been used by Democratic and Republican Presidents to preserve and protect cultural and historic places such as the Grand Canyon, Statue of Liberty, Acadia, Zion, Grand Teton, and Olympic National Parks.

H.R. 1459 blocks a president’s ability to act quickly to preserve lands of public interest. It places limits on the number of monuments a president can designate using the Antiquities Act. The bill, for the first time, requires Congress to approve monument designations.
