Louisville Loves Mountains
Kentuckians For The Commonwealth is partnering with Heine Brother’s Coffee and Carmichael’s Bookstore for the 5th annual Louisville Loves Mountains Festival to celebrate Kentucky’s mountain beauty and heritage. One thousand members of the local community are expected to attend the event. The festival is free and open to the public and will include local artists, musicians, food truck vendors, and breweries. Louisville Loves Mountains Festival celebrates the unique natural beauty and ecological importance of Kentucky’s Appalachian mountains. All participating vendors are donating a percentage of their sales to KFTC and our work to end mountain top removal mining.

Bar-B-Q Pitt Festival
The aroma of smoking meats and burgoo will fill the air around Pitt Academy with The award-winning food, outstanding blues music, children’s area and game booths provide something for everyone who enjoys great food and fun!

The barbecue artisans from St. Pius X Catholic Church in Owensboro will once again fire up their 120-foot-long open style pits with hickory and oak. Pork, mutton, and chicken are basted with the Cooking Team’s secret recipe and smoked overnight while 200 gallons of burgoo simmer all day until it all reaches the perfect stage for serving over 4000 meals.

Bacon Ball at the Farm 2013
Over 1200 guests are expected to the attend the third annual event which includes an array of bacon appetizers and dishes served by many of Louisville’s best restaurants, bourbon cocktails, local beers, live entertainment, a silent auction and an art participation project. Each year, Louisville chefs vie for title “King of Bacon” by preparing bacon infused appetizers.

Crusade for Children Bike Ride

All bikers are welcome to join this fifth annual fundraiser for the Crusade for Children from the Pleasure Ridge Fire Department. Ride will be approximately 210 miles. A limited number of Crusade for Children patches will be available. We will also raffle various gift cards and shirts at Hogs Tavern.

Dalai Lama: Public Talk
Louisville’s Tibetan Buddhist Center, the Drepung Gomang Institute, and the City of Louisville will host His Holiness the Dalai Lama May 19-21, 2013. The three-day event, called “Engaging Compassion”, will begin on Sunday, May 19 at the YUM! Center when the Dalai Lama will present a public talk to an expected crowd of 16,000.

The Magic and The Wonder
Three of Las Vegas’ most prominent magicians are bringing their acts to Louisville to help raise money for our Kosair Kids.
