LOUISVILLE, KY—The Legal Aid Society announces dates for free legal clinics offered during the month of May.

 

 

WHAT:                          ASK-A-LAWYER CLINIC

WHEN:                         Monday, May 6, at 1:00 PM

WHERE: Louisville Free Public Library Highlands Shelby Park Branch (1250 Bardstown Rd., Suite 4)

PURPOSE: A Legal Aid advocate will be available for individual consultation about civil legal problems and how to apply for Legal Aid services.

RSVP:                          No appointment is necessary.  First come, first served.

WHERE:                       West Louisville Community Ministries (3146 W. Broadway)

PURPOSE: A Legal Aid advocate will be available for individual consultation about civil legal problems and how to apply for Legal Aid services.

WHEN:                         Monday, May 13, at 3:00 PM

WHERE:                       YouthBuild (800 S. Preston St.)

PURPOSE:                   An attorney will be on hand to discuss the expungement process and which charges can be expunged.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their criminal record which shows the disposition of each case.  A copy of the record may be obtained from Court Archives located in the basement of the Old Jail Building at 514 West Liberty Street in Louisville.

PURPOSE:                   Eligible seniors will be offered free assistance drafting wills and other life-planning documents.

WHEN:                         Saturday, May 18, at 1:30 PM

WHERE:                       Shively Community Center (3920 Dixie Hwy.)

PURPOSE:                   A Legal Aid Society attorney will be on hand to offer counsel regarding past due property taxes.  A Jefferson County Attorney will be available to work out payment agreement on 2012 property tax bills before they are offered for sale to third-parties.  Other services include help filing for Homestead or Disability Exemptions, connection with a job coach, and resources for senior citizens.

PURPOSE:                   Clients are provided with the forms necessary to file a claim, and an attorney will review completed claims.
