Yo ! Fix those Old Winders !

Preservation Louisville will host a hands on workshop on Saturday, April 13, 2013 for people interested in learning and practicing the skills needed to repair historic wood windows. The workshop runs from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Brennan House Historic Home, 631 S. 5th St.

Instructor Jack P. Patchin of Ol’ House Experts in Madison, Indiana, has over 30 years experience in construction and restoration. Patchin has restored wood windows for homes, barns, and outbuildings. He served nine years on the maintenance crew of Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wisconsin estate, and has presented workshops and seminars for local preservation organizations and at community colleges.

In the workshop – which will build on previous workshops he has presented for Preservation Louisville – historic window expert Patchin will demonstrate the skills needed to repair historic wood windows, and guide participants in practicing those skills. Participants will learn:

  • How to use the basic tools to restore, repair, and maintain historic wood windows.
  • How to repair sashes with epoxy, repair the rope and weight system, and replace and glaze panes.

The workshop is open to the public, seating is limited and reservations are required.  Registration Fee: $30 ($20 for Preservation Louisville Members).  Please reserve your spot in this exciting workshop below!
