Performing Oct. 4 —
Cheyenne Mize!
Whimsical, haunting, dreamlike music that eschews the traditional formulae, Cheyenne Mize presents a rainbow of juxtapositions. She has been compared to artists such as Neko Case and PJ Harvey. The New York Times described her 2010 debut, Before Lately, as “sweet without being cloying, weary without hopelessness,” noting the vast space between notes, yet lack of air. Her latest EP is We Don’t Need. Check out Cheyenne’s website.

Future performers at the Mayor’s Music & Art Series will include the Louisville-based world-music group, Sudanese Rebaba on Nov. 1.
