The Iroquois Library will be hosting a Bilingual Café for English and Spanish speakers Saturdays at 3 pm, in March and April at Iroquois Library, 601 W. Woodlawn Ave. People able to maintain a very basic conversation in either language will be welcome to participate. Students will speak a half hour in Spanish and a half hour in English. This empowering session will help both participants as they learn the most important aspect of a different language—conversational communication. The goal is to share language skills and culture in a casual setting. Props and materials will be on hand to provide conversation topics. The Beechmont Neighborhood Association will hold its annual Festival of Flowers Saturday May 10th at the Gazebo at the corner of Southern Parkway and Woodlawn Avenue from 9:00 AM. till 4:00 PM. Admission is free for all.
This year we will be selling Herbs, Perennials and many bedding plants. Slo-poke Farms and The Red Windmill will be on hand and other local farmers will have a preview of our Beechmont Open Air market.
We will have a variety of gardening items for sale. We will have a number of craft demonstrations. Face and Flower Pot Painting for the Children. Food will be available for purchase, with BBQ sandwiches, chips, hot dogs, corn on the cob and fresh popcorn. The Lydia Group will be on hand selling homemade bakery goods.
Live Music will be provided through the entire event.

The Beechmont Neighborhood Association will hold a Mini-Marathon breakfast on Saturday April 26th 2008 at the Gazebo at the corner of Southern Parkway and Woodlawn Avenue from 6:30 AM. until 10:00 AM. We will be selling donuts, milk, orange juice, coffee and biscuits and gravy. Come and listen to your favorite walking and running music. We will have Beechmont Neighborhood Association mugs and merchandise for sale. All proceeds will benefit the Beechmont neighborhood. Come on out and cheer for your favorite runners and walkers.
The 18th Annual Americana World Festival will be held on Saturday, June 7, on the grounds of the Americana Community Center, 4801 Southside Drive in Louisville. The festival runs 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and features international entertainment, food and crafts, as well as information from city agencies, non-profit organizations, and area businesses. The Kids’ World area offers activities for children throughout the day. One dollar raffle tickets will be sold, with a grand prize of $500 cash. Advance tickets are now available through ValuMarket locations.
